Liverpool Guild of Students
The Liverpool Guild of Students has a proud history of over 100 years as a lobbying and political active voice of the students. As part of a large-scale refurbishment of the Liverpool Guild of Students, I created environmental graphics that responded to both the interior refurbishment and rebranded identity created by Smiling Wolf. This aimed to capture the Guild as pioneers, with a flag-icon logo. I also introduced themes of nature, industry and 60’s counter-culture.
I established a rhombus-shape design which became the key visual motif for the branding. This created a distinctive tile pattern for the 30 metre double-sided bar, the unit shape for all signage, geometric pattern on wall graphics, optical art style patterns printed on canvas light boxes and a grid unit for all branded collateral. Mountains and maps also feature prominently, including three meeting rooms which were themed on the top three highest peaks on Earth.
The University has an award-winning reputation as an Ecoversity which demanded that the design of the refurbishment met environmental ratings and restrictions. The Guild comprises of three different buildings, including Mountford Hall, one of Liverpool’s key music venues.
The project was nominated for the FX Awards 2014 and The Drum Design Awards 2015.
All work created under Nomad RDC.
